What you need to know about Toxic Shock Syndrome

Toxic shock syndrome or TSS could be fatal which is caused by toxins produced in certain types of infecting bacteria: group A Streptococcus and S. aureus.

Toxic shock syndrome is usually associated with the use of tampons in menstruation women but can also affect people of any age and gender.

Do you know that tampons when left in place for a long period of time could be a breeding ground for bacteria which releases harmful toxins that can lead to TSS. Always be sure to follow the instructions of the proper use of tampons to avoid such kind of condition and it is advisable to change your tampons during menstruation period every 4 to 8 hours to avoid toxic shock syndrome.

Signs and Symptoms of Toxic Shock Syndrome

  • low blood pressure
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • high fever
  • diarrhea
  • skin rashes

Call your doctor immediately or rush to the nearest hospital if you suspect that you have a Toxic Shock Syndrome.
