Fix computer device driver problems with driver detective??
Fix computer device driver problems with driver detective?? – Out of curiosity, I’ve decided to have my Compaq Presario V3000 laptop formatted and switch to Windows XP just to test if it would work much better than using it with its preinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium OS. When I bought this laptop last year, this package came without CD/DVD drivers or Windows Vista Home premium installer though the 160GB hardisk was partitoned with an image of the OS with the device drivers installed at drive D.
Before I started, I’ve created a recovery disk first of the OS and drivers using Compaq’s recover manager software so there would be no problem just in case I messed up and I would still be able to get it back to its factory setting.
I wasn’t sure what I was doing but I’m taking it as a challenge coz I used to solve any problems on my own and I would only consider the help of anyone if there’s no choice. For me it was exciting coz I know I would learn from it if I could make it work properly. I didn’t get worried that much just in case I messed this thing up because I could still use my father’s laptop (crossfingers).
After Windows XP was installed, I already expected that device drivers would be a problem. I tried to update its device drivers using windows update but it didn’t work and this blue screen appeared with an error message. So the first attempt was a failure.
For the second attempt, I’ve tried to reformat it again and use a different Windows Xp installer with SP3 pack. The bluescreen with errors were resolved but the drivers were still a problem. I couldn’t even connect to internet coz of driver issues so I used the other laptop to search for a wifi driver. It was really time consuming but I was lucky I found one that actually work. Again, I’ve tried to update all its driver using windows update but to no avail. So the only choice that I have is to search on the internet one by one for its drivers.
Have you heard about driver detective? A friend suggested that he encountered the same problem that I had and installed a driver detective software that would search automatically for windows drivers that I need. I’ve tried to search for torrent driver detective before, downloaded it and have it installed in my pc but the software that I found was a trial version only and it says I have to buy its full version to make it work. I found a new driver detective software today at File Extension DB. I am not sure if this File Extension DB would work. I’ll try this File Extension DB later and hopefully this thing would help me. I have to sleep for a while and will update this entry later.
