The Goji Fad – What's In It?
One of the most popular health foods right now is the goji berry. You can buy dried goji berries, goji juice, and other products. While there are lots of stories and hype floating around about goji, many people are not sure what the nutrients in goji actually are. Goji has some vitamins and minerals, but nothing extraordinary. Goji juice as just a little more vitamin C than orange juice. Goji berries also contain some other trace nutrients, but again nothing too amazing. The antioxidants in goji berries are of interest, but it is no known how many of the antioxidants found in the berry are found in the finished goji products. The primary nutrient in goji is a special class of polysaccharides, called master molecules. These polysaccharides are used by your body to control and run your entire body. So, should you try a goji product? Not for vitamin C, but for polysaccharides, yes!
