Yesterday, my mother asked her credit card company about this $1 charge that she has on her credit card bill. The credit card company gave her the name and the number of the merchant. She asked me to inquire about the nature of this company and the reason why she was being charged. The friendly representative told me that they are a life insurance company offering more than life insurance policies. The lady said that the $1 is for the first month premium of my mom and can be canceled anytime. Apparently my mom orders a policy without knowing. I laughed. She admitted she loves signing up coupons, those that come with the bill, thinking they are freebies. She ended up keeping the policy after getting all the information she needed.
