Continuous battle against hyperthyroidism

Tomorrow would be the result of my biopsy test… I just hope and pray that the result would be fine…. that I don’t need an operation…. A thyroidectomy….

Hyperthyroid

A thyroidectomy involves the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland. Surgeons often perform a thyroidectomy when a patient has thyroid cancer or some other condition of the thyroid gland (such as hyperthyroidism).

It’s been a year since I was diagnosed of having a hyperthyroid…

Hyperthyroidism is the result of excess thyroid hormone production, causing an overactive metabolism and increased speed of all the body’s processes.

I remembered last January 2006 my body weight was over 80 kilos…. I stand only 5 feet and 3 inches tall so it’s too obvious that I was categorized as an obese. But now I only weigh 55 kilos…

The doctor’s couldn’t tell where I got such disease… They would only say that maybe it’s hereditary or too much stress could also be a great factor…

The Signs and Symptoms

Major clinical weight loss (often accompanied by a ravenous appetite), intolerance to heat, fatigue, weakness, hyperactivity, irritability, apathy, depression, polyuria, and sweating. Additionally, patients may present with a variety of symptoms such as palpitations and arrhythmias (notably atrial fibrillation), shortness of breath (dyspnea), loss of libido, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

THE CONFESSION….

I think it was almost 3 years ago since I’ve started to take weight loss pills such as bangkok pills, K*nc*ra, K*ank*nis (Herbal slimming tea), x*n*cal, and other diet pills… But last year I’ve tried these Chinese herbal pills which I bought from a well known department store…. After a week I’ve lost almost 1 to 2 pounds a week… so I keep on taking those medicines…. then after 6 months of taking those pills… I started to feel something different… I experienced all of the signs and symptoms that I’ve posted above…

I have a doubt that taking all those weight loss pills could be the reason why I’ve got a hyperthyroid…. Maybe…. or maybe just this past few years of my life I’ve been through a lot of problems and a lot of stress that triggered such disease….

Hello. my name is Tess, I was in the Philippines in July for a month vacation to see my family. My body weight started dropping so fast there. I am 5/4 and my normal weight is 50 kls. I stopped smokimg in Mars, before I go see the family in the Philippinnes. I gained 6 kls in 3 month time and it is the heaviest I have ever been i in my life. I had also been on the slim girls Before I went to Philippines in July I made sure I had lost 2 kls already, 4 more kls to go. I arrived in manila,my family noticing the extra kilos I have with me and then the magic happened! I was eating like a pig and I never got a pound infact I started losing really quick. I arrived in Manila July2/ 54 kls and by July 23, I was down to 50 kls. We go out clubbing a lot with my cousins and friends, so thought that it just the lack of sleep and too much dancing every ight, We took some pictures of course of our nights out and when I sent it to my best friend, he told me to have my Goiter checked asap cause my eyes really looks different. My Mom and brother both were operated, they both had HYPERTHYROIDISM.Needless to say I had my blood test and result that I was Hyperthyroid too. I am taking Neo-Mercazole 10 mg and 2 tablets 5 mg. My Endocronologist is trying to find the right dosage for me. I get a blood test ones every week. I still have little tremors, I sweat a lot even when everybody else is cold. It hard to still sleep at night and I am always irritated , My Dr. said she has to find the good dose for me and then every thing is suppose to return to normal.
